Abstract

Unified Process offers an exceptional foundation that allows to achieve a higher level of process capabilities in numerous different CMMI process areas. Moreover, Unified Process allows the selection and customization of its process elements to adhere to the particularities inherent in each project, program, or business unit. Nevertheless, Unified Process is feeble in a number of CMMI process areas. In a widespread study performed by the Software Engineering Institute, Unified Process was assessed against CMMI Continuous Representation. Although process performed well in most of the CMMI process areas, the assessment concluded that Process was weak in the areas of PPQA. That is Project and Process Quality Assurance. In this paper we describe new process elements that allow process to overcome these weaknesses. We discuss activities and tasks in unified paradigm that this paper explores and describes the software development process to plan and execute PPQA in unified paradigm.
