Abstract

This paper describes the use of geo-referenced panoramic images for visual remote exploration in the SaR domain. It underlines the usefulness of panoramic images and distributed information services by presenting and discussing associated use cases. The complete workflow of capturing and processing of the panoramic images is described. Then a survey of approaches to post-processing, automatic analysis and visualization of panoramas is given and own results for automatic image analysis are presented. Finally, the features and components of information systems which provide functionality for retrieval and interactive visualization of geo-referenced panoramic images are described.
