Implementations of location based services have long been researched and well understood in the research domain, however real examples of useful applications of location aware technology are still scarce today. In this paper we present how that knowledge and experience in research was applied to manage the battlefield site at Culloden, bringing the visitor experience there to a new level. Using state of the art GPS triggering and standards based approach the system provides a consistent user experience with reliable results in terms of availability of relevant content. This paper discusses not only the technology but also the impact of real live deployment on the implementation.
