Abstract

This paper introduces via reflective properties of perfect reconstruction filter banks a mother wavelet related to the Daubechies orthogonal family. The construction of this wavelet is detailed, its properties are derived and its effectivness in compressing speech signals is tested. Compression parameters are computed for speech frames at level 5 Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) representation of the signals. Results are obtained and compared for Global threshold and level dependent threshold techniques. Comparisons with Signal to Noise Ratios, Peak Signal to Noise Ratios and Normalized Root Mean Square Error are also recorded.
