Abstract

This paper introduces the concepts and practices in aligning music genre ontologies. It establishes a technique for merging these structures and shows how the technique can increase the accuracy and reduce the computational complexity. This technique is described through the use of a practical application involving Mpeg7's controlled vocabularies, Mpeg1's id tag and two semantic web ontology languages.
