This paper implements a fast bottom-up approach for perceptual grouping. The proposal consists of two main stages: firstly, it detects the homogeneous blobs of the input image using a color-based distance and then, it hierarchically merges these blobs according to a set of energy functions. Both stages are performed over the Bounded Irregular Pyramid. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been quantitatively evaluated with respect to ground---truth segmentation data.
