In wireless sensor network, the clustering-based routing protocol is well-known especially the low energy adaptive cluster hierarchy (LEACH) and its energy performance is improved due to the scheme of clutering, probability, and random. The clustering-based routing protocol has sensor nodes organized themself with predertermined variable p to form clusters. With the predetermined p variable and probability, every round has different cluster numbers. In order to evenly dissipate nodes' energy, this paper proposes a fixed optimal cluster (FOC) numbers that is to use the optimal cluster number to form clusters. However, by the optimization analysis of clusters for the ad-hoc wireless sensor network, the optimal cluster numbers is then applied and the simulation results show the entire network lifetime can be extended very well.
