Abstract

In recent years, grid computing has become more widespread in science, engineering, business, and medicine. Due to different problems with the communication of participating clusters in a grid system, setting up a fully functional grid presents a major challenge especially when the clusters are on different networks. Performing grid-based research requires a great deal of training both in hardware and software, thus presenting another challenge. In this paper, we will present an image processing research experience to highlight the challenges and to provide some of the approaches we have taken to address the problems.
