The Semantic Web aims at defining ways to allow Web information to be used by computers not only for display purposes, but also for interoperability and integration between systems and applications. Much progress has been made in developing ideas and tools to enable the growth of the Semantic Web. As increasing amount of data is published in the form of OWL, copyright protection of OWL data is becoming an important requirement for many applications. In this paper, we investigated the syntax of OWL and proposed some techniques for the digital watermarking based on OWL. Furthermore, we put forward a model to embed watermark into OWL-based ontology. Experimental results also demonstrate that our proposed watermarking methods can be applied to exiting OWL documents easily. The watermarking model is also feasible.
