Abstract

In this paper we consider a cognitive radio overlay model applied to single channel, single radio wireless mesh network and investigate the performance and fairness. Specifically we challenge the nominal mesh capacity of $O(\frac{1}{n})$ and provide proof that under certain constraints total mesh capacity can approach $O(\frac{1}{2})$ with an average per node throughput of $O(\frac{1}{n_a})$ where n a is the number of data generating active nodes. We provide an analysis of overlay communication using dirty paper coding on the sequential transmissions in wireless mesh networks.
