Abstract

Fourier transform-based semblance analysis compares two time series on the basis of their phase as a function of frequency. This approach can be extended using wavelets to allow the phase comparison of two datasets to be performed as a function of both time and wavelength. This paper further extends the previous work in two directions; firstly it demonstrates how to display the correlation between multiple (not just two) datasets, and secondly it introduces wavelet-based semblance filtering which allows a pair of datasets to be processed to extract components with any degree of correlation.
