Abstract

Planar spiral coils are used in the present paper to estimate electrical conductivity of a conducting plate by eddy current method. Formulas for the change in impedance are derived from the corresponding formulas for air-cored cylindrical coils in the limit where the height of the coil approaches zero. The difference between experimental and theoretical values of the change in impedance is minimized in order to estimate electrical conductivity of a conducting plate. Reasonable agreement between experimental and theoretical data is found.
