This paper investigates the WiMAX standard (IEEE 802.16) and focuses on the QoS architecture of its network MAC layer. The different kinds of available scheduling services suitable for VoIP are studied, and a new scheduling service called Enhanced Unsolicited Grant service (eUGS) is proposed. Performance of (eUGS) was studied by simulation, and the results show a QoS improvement over the other scheduling services that carry VoIP.
