Abstract

Grid computing is a proven technology for a cost effective means of solving computationally intense problems. However, current systems present challenges to scientists and students who may not be very skilled at programming parallel applications for use on such systems. EDGAR is a grid computing solution which meets two critical constraints, namely ease of application programming for users and platform independence. Satisfying those two constraints make EDGAR a cost effective grid computing approach which will be easier for scientists and students to use for solving computationally intense problems.
