Abstract

In this paper, we propose to leverage socialgraphs from Online Social Networks (OSN) to improve theforwarding efficiency of mobile networks, more particularlyDelay Tolerant Networks (DTN). We extract communitystructures from three popular OSNs, Flickr, LiveJournal,and YouTube, and quantify the clustering features of eachnetwork at different levels of hierarchical resolution. Wethen show how community information can be used forforwarding using hints small enough to store on a mobiledevice. We also provide a first comparison study of thetopological community structures for different types ofOSNs with millions of users.
