Abstract

In communication networks, multistage servicesystem is used to provide the service in series, where customers may depart after receiving the one phase of service or join another system for further service. In this paper we have proposed a model to represent such type of system as a tandem queues with multiservers. In this model customers joins the infinite buffer infront of a single server and after receiving the service they can leave the system or join the finite buffer infrontof multiservers for further service. The system is modelled as two queues in series, first is M/M/1 and second is M/M/n, and Matrix Geometric Method (MGM) is used as the solution technique. Different performance measures of the model are evaluated such as, queue length, waiting time, flow time and system length.
