Abstract

Open source is impacting software industry in a significant manner. It is critical for any software vendor to take an appropriate position in the open-source-involved software engineering. It is also true in the platform software for mobile handsets. The author analyzes the platform software landscapes in the mobile industry with a perspective of utilizing open source software. The author performs competitive analysis for many stake holders in this landscape.
