Abstract

This paper reports the geometric simulation for form grinding of workpieces with complicated geometry. A simulation module was developed based on SolidWorks solid modeller to predict the instantaneous geometric grinding parameters of form grinding processes. The module was compatible with a simulation package for Continuous Dress Creep-feed Form Grinding (CDCFG), which can simulate the physical grinding parameters such as grinding power and forces with given geometric grinding parameters. This paper presents the general methodology, implementation, and technical highlights of the simulation module. An example is given to illustrate the application of this module and to verify the simulated results.
