Abstract

The paper describes the design, implementation, and verification of a system-on-chip aimed to execute the MAC protocol of an IEEE 802.15.3 standard compliant body area network. Acceleration of MAC protocol operations is achieved by a specific hardware/software partitioning. Except the MAC protocol accelerator, an on-chip flash is implemented to host system firmware. The paper ends presenting main features of the implemented system-on-chip.
