This article describes an extension of registry services that allows for semantic interoperability on-the-fly between distributed system processes that describe their services using ontologies. Such extension allows for processes to interact with others without hard-coded descriptions about exact service names, invocation modes and result interpretation. Besides the extended architecture for registry services, we describe the ontology alignment algorithm and how we use the algorithm as a component in the architecture. We present the implementation of the architecture and a case study for preliminary validation.
