Abstract

This paper analyses conditions of contemporary network functioning and demands caused by these conditions. To satisfy the demands and to allow network designers to work on a higher level of network engineering, we consider such theoretical models of software and hardware network as grid automata and grid arrays. Structural operations with grid automata and grid arrays, which represent operations in network design and maintenance, are introduced and studied, providing system tolls for network design, upgrading, and maintenance.
