Abstract

In this paper, we investigate coordinated multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission in an interference-limited cellular downlink. Different from previous work, we consider a cellular system serving more than one user using non-orthogonal channels per cell. We propose a novel coordinated transmission scheme based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. The proposed scheme is applicable to multiple user cells. Also, efficient user selection methods along with coordinated transmission are investigated to further enhance the sum rate. Computer simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed coordination scheme and user selection methods.
