Abstract

Considered with the accurate and fast link fault localization algorithm in optical networks, an effective multi-fault localization algorithm is proposed to solve the issue of localizing multi-fault in cycle cover monitoring algorithm. First of all, the monitoring site was chosen for each cycle from the heuristic spanning-tree (HST) cycle covering algorithm; then, suspected fault domains were obtained through the HST algorithm; after that, the monitoring paths were selected by using K-shortest path algorithm (KSP); lastly, the mapping relationship of alarm codes was built to monitoring paths. The simulation results indicate that the detection path based multi-fault localization algorithm (DMFLA) improved from the traditional cycle monitoring cover algorithm (HST) has certain adaptability for multi-fault monitoring and localization in optical networks. In addition, it can achieve the complete localization of double faults for optical networks.
