Since bandwidth is the most critical resource in mobile cellular networks, it is important to employ mechanisms for efficiently using the available bandwidth. Mobility of users and scarcity of bandwidth makes QoS provisioning a difficult task in cellular networks. In this paper, a call admission control (CAC) and resource reservation mechanism (RR) is described to provide a consistent QoS guarantee in cellular mobile networks and we propose an idea to improve it. This mechanism is based on user mobility profile which is effectively used for path prediction. The previous behavior of mobile users are collected and analyzed for generating mobility profiles. We add variable bandwidth allocation and bandwidth borrowing strategy to mobility prediction for improving the evaluation metrics. Our method guarantees that the bandwidth allocated to a real-time call never drops below the minimum bandwidth requirement of the call ensuring that the corresponding application can still function at an acceptable level. The simulation result shows that the performance of our method is superior that of existing scheme.
