This paper proposes an enhanced load-balancing approach considering the on-going traffic sessions as well as new traffic sessions. In our scheme a congested node tries to escape from the congestion caused by the on-going traffic session by requesting phased detour to adjacent nodes. Like legacy load-balancing schemes, a potentially congested node avoids entering congestion state by dropping incoming RREQs for new traffic sessions. For efficient operation of the proposed load-balancing, each node monitors all the paths for ongoing traffic sessions continuously and uses congestion recognition mechanism. On this way, the proposed approach resolves congestion on the already configured path. We evaluate the performance in comparison with legacy schemes. According to simulation results, our scheme shows lowest packet latency and loss ratio with negligible increase of control overhead.
