Abstract

The need to replace wire harnesses within home network sensing and control system applications calls for a wireless approach using 802.15.4 multi-hop networking. This paper considers the bit error probability analysis of coded SSMA(spread spectrum multiple access) with offset quadrature phase-shift keying (OQPSK) modulation and random signature sequences according to the multi-hop transmission scenarios. We propose to use burst noise as a model for home area network in evaluating the performance of sensor system based multi-hop networks. In this paper, multi-hopping performance of coded sensor system for smart home applications is evaluated and compared in terms of system and channel parameters.
