A strategy-tree provides a systematic approach to the evaluation of the effectiveness of deployed policy sets and a mechanism to dynamically alter policy sets (i.e., alter strategy) at run-time in response to feedback. This paper provides an overview of the strategy-tree concept and its application to a policy-based management system for a data center. Results are presented that show that the strategy-tree can be used to balance tradeoffs between high level objectives.
