Abstract

The following article covers the different types of software cockpit applications for use in various areas, such as software development, software maintenance as well as quality management. Starting with an explanation of the general basics and intentions behind software cockpits, we introduce a dynamic infrastructure that implements dynamic information flows. Furthermore, we will outline which mechanisms this infrastructure provides for the visualization and presentation of those information streams and restrict our elaborations to three independent screens. We will conclude with a discussion of a cockpit prototype that was implemented at our institute.
