Abstract

This article describes a hardware solution for localization and data sensing, using wireless communications in embedded devices dedicated to logistics systems. A wireless sensor network is used for reporting data to a java embedded system. This system arranges the communication between the logistics server and the sensor tags in the WPAN. A TCP/IP connection (over GPRS or Ethernet) is established for transmitting the data frames to the server running the logistics application. Explanations are given on the network and system architecture used in the solution. The system functionality overview is also included in the text. In addition, preliminary tests are taken into account.
