Recent technology advances in mobile devices provide abundant opportunities for developers to provide ubiquitous computing services. This can be realized by context information available in the user's environment. However, current models lack formal system of identification and does not apply universally to heterogeneous systems. A context information refinement architecture that uses quality of context (QoC) parameters to improve context information is proposed. We described a model for multistage context provisioning and apply the proposed refinement scheme to streamline the process of context information improvement. More relevant contexts are created from basic context information using an adaptive QoC scheme. It allows applications to utilize component information if needed. Our aim is to systematize a context refinement process for use in mobile computing environment.
