Abstract

Nowadays, DC motor drives are widely used in industry for drive systems such as conveyors and hydraulic servo motors. The performances of DC motor control systems are reduced by the effect of DC motor variable torque. The control system of a DC motor will increase the electric current in a DC motor to maintain a desirable speed when the DC motor receives the variable torque or disturbance torque. However, variable torque is not taken into account in most control methods. Generally, the variable torque of a DC motor is difficult to measure in practice but it can be estimated. This paper demonstrated a method for estimating the variable torque of DC motors by using a method called "adaptive compensation". The results of the study can be used to improve and develop the performance of DC motor control systems.
