Abstract

With the development of MEMS technology, mobile sensor networks are becoming an active research area, in which the design of sensor network node is an important issue. In this paper, the hardware design of a novel mobile sensor node is introduced, which is based on the mobile robot vehicle with ZigBee wireless communication module, high-performance DSP processor, and low-cost, low-power sensors. And the network configuration is built with the designed mobile sensor nodes. The basic tests are conducted with the designed system. And the results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, which satisfies the requirements of mobile sensor network, that is, mobilization, data collection, data processing and data transportation.
