Abstract

Catalog book is a common means for a manufacturer to demonstrate the description and related prices of its products for a time period, normally for a year. With the evolution of the business and new information technology, it is time to address the need of producing annual catalog books in different ways from traditionally printed versions in order to facilitate customer involvement in the product design and production in make-to-order or One-of-a-Kind Production (OKP) companies. To pursue this goal, a framework of extended new product deployment and production process is introduced in this paper, and a web-based catalog builder with customer involvement, i.e. customer oriented E-catalog for OKP is presented. A customized window and door catalog is used as an application to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed framework and method.
