Abstract

This paper describes a data description language being implemented by the Data and Computation Center at the University of Wisconsin. This language is intended to be a candidate for a generalized language to describe hierarchical data files. The paper begins with a discussion of the objectives and restrictions of the language, continues with a complete language description and concludes with remarks on the language processor and extensions to the language.
