Interleaver is the only means for user separation in Interleave-Division Multiple-Access (IDMA) systems. A user-specific interlaver design method based on matrix cyclic shifting is proposed, and simulation comparison with random interleaver in AWGN channel is completed. The results show that the matrix cyclic shifting interleaver can maintain almost the same BER performance with random interleaver. This method solves the memory cost problem to store the interleaver pattern and reduces the amount of information exchange between the mobiles and the base stations to specify the interleaver.
