There is a need in Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) communication systems to make a channel evaluation without the use of special transmissions and without interrupting traffic flow. Previous research shows that the method of estimating pseudoerror rate provides an option of Real-time Channel Evaluation (RTCE) in AFH/DQPSK and AFH/MFSK system. This paper describes a RTCE technique based on Signal-to-noise Ratio (SNR) estimation and prediction, which is applicable to not only continuous phase modulation but also noncontinuous phase modulation, e.g. Minimum frequency-Shift Keying (MSK).
