In this paper, we investigate the impact of channel estimation error on the average symbol error probability (SEP) of multiple-input multiple-output maximal-ratio combining (MRC) systems in the presence of cochannel interferences (CCIs) in Rayleigh fading channels. Using an accurate exponential bound for the Gaussian Q-function, we present a simple approximate solution for the average SEP of general rectangular quardrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes with Mary signaling. The approximate solution can be used to compute the average SEP of general rectangular QAM in Rayleigh fading channels. Numerical or simulation results are presented to verify the accuracy of the solution.
