A new scheme to increase the number of the candidates without increasing the number of IFFTs in selected mapping (SLM) method is proposed to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of OFDM signals. The proposed scheme is equivalent to obtaining the new phase sequences via combining the phase sequences in normal SLM, while the newly generated candidates are obtained directly by the suitable combination of the existing candidates. Simulations show that the proposed enhanced SLM (E-SLM) greatly outperforms normal SLM for the same number of IFFTs, and has a little performance loss for the same candidates' number compared to SLM, but ESLM is much less complex.
