Abstract

This paper models compact MIMO system recurring to microwave network. theory. Using scattering parameter matrix (S-Matrix), it analyses the ability of suppressing mutual coupling effect and power exporting ability of compact MIMO antenna arrays. Simulations have been done on four different types of antenna arrays which respectively are parallel double dipoles, vertical double dipoles, double X-shaped antennas and parallel triple dipoles. Theoretical analysis and numerical results indicate that polarization is the key factor to reduce the mutual coupling effect as well as improve the power transporting efficiency of the antennas. Moreover polarization introducing from the structure of antennas has more obvious effect on improving self decoupling ability of arrays.
