Abstract

In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, multipath fading channels introduce interference between adjacent symbols. Although the interference degrades the system performance considerably, it also provides the information of channel impulse response (CIR) length to us. Therefore, based on the estimation of interference in the cyclic prefix (CP) interval, we can use the minimum description length (MDL) criterion to detect the channel length blindly.
