Many digital beamforming algorithms result in a set of complex weights including amplitudes and phases. The use of complex weights offers greater control over the array response at the expense of system complexity. And these approaches typically assume a wide sense stationary environment and utilize auxillary training data to estimate the statistics of the interference. However, for a dynamic environment the present method may be more suitable as one process the information based on a single snapshot. Hence, this paper presents an amplitude-only adaptive technique to extract the signal of interest (SOI) arriving from a known direction in the presence of strong interferers-the direct data domain least squares(D3LS) algorithm, which utilizes only a single snapshot of the data for adaptive processing of wideband signals.
