Broadcasting is a common operation in ad hoc routing protocols to resolve many issues. However, blind broadcasting is usually very costly and will result to serious redundancy, collision and contention. In this paper we propose a conditioned forwarding algorithm for broadcasting of On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol. By reducing unnecessary broadcasting of route request packets based on additional coverage area and density of node, this scheme performs more efficiently. Simulation results are presented, which show that the proposed scheme outperforms original protocol in packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay and control byte overhead.
