Abstract

Clustering based routing protocols have the benefit of reducing routing overhead and increasing performance in the transmission delay and average throughput. In this paper, on the basis of CBRP we propose a new protocol called KHPCBRP (K-Hop Passive Clustering Based Routing Protocol) which enlarges the range of electing clusterhead to K hops and adopts the strategy of passive clustering. In addition, the concept of Prepared ClusterHead (PCH) is introduced for replacing the invalid current clusterhead to reduce the re-clustering overhead. The simulation result shows that KHPCBRP provides better performance in MANET network of large scale and high mobility.
