Monitoring grain storage situation is playing a very important role in grain storage safety. Traditional monitor system for grain depots has several drawbacks, such as large cable coverage, more interference and lighting strike, high maintenance cost and so on. To deal with these issues, a novel scheme of the monitor system for grain depots is proposed based on wireless sensor network (WSN). This scheme utilizes the intelligent method of wireless communication to transmit data without fixed network support. It's proven that the scheme has not only good reliability and maintainability, but also cost-efficiency.
