In this paper, we consider the problem of unequal error protection based on symmetric Slepian-Wolf coding in wireless sensor networks. Compared to the asymmetric scheme that appears in our previous work, the new scheme owns almost the same decoding performance and unequal error protection capability. Due to its flexible rate allocation, symmetric Slepian-Wolf coding based scheme would be more practical for the design of wireless sensor network.
