Abstract

In order to improve energy efficiency, cluster reconstruction strategy based on energy prediction mechanism (CREP) has been proposed in the paper to solve the problem of frequent cluster reconfiguration in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Analyze energy consumption model of sensor nodes, construct the work state transition model, predict the remaining energy of its neighbor nodes and compare remaining energy level between cluster heads and cluster members after the next round to determine whether or not to reconstruct cluster. Through simulation experiments, compare routing protocol which is applied by energy prediction mechanism with original routing protocol in two modes of energy homogeneous and heterogeneous, and verify the effectiveness of CREP. Result shows that CREP can improve energy efficiency and extend the network lifetime.
