Extending network lifetime is one of the most important destinations in wireless sensor networks. Obviously, the less transmit power requirement in clustering architecture is better than that in plane architecture. But how to select cluster head equably in a distributed manner is a problem. In this paper, we propose a Energy Efficiency Clustering Scheme (EECS). Unlike LEACH and LEACH-C, our protocol choosing cluster heads according to energy equilibrium. The proposed scheme is divided into three stages including constructing cluster, building cluster head tree and transmitting data. In the first stage, cluster heads are chosen and every node selects which cluster head it belongs to. In the second stage, we build a tree which is based on the weight inversely proportional to the distance away from the base station. In the last stage, cluster members collect data and transmit it to the base station by their cluster heads. Our protocol is simulated and compared with LEACH and LEACH-C. The simulation result shows that EECS has better performance in network lifetime and energy expense than LEACH and LEACH-C.
