Abstract

Nowadays, cause of the high data rate access capability, Wi-Fi and WiMAX technology are becoming today's key technology in wireless access field, and the seamless integration between them received extensive attention. Although, IEEE 802.21 standard has proposed the architecture for achieving roaming seamlessly among these different networks, the security and seamless mobility are still key issues for actually deployment. In this paper, we present a flexible architecture which can efficiently handle the secure and seamless mobility issue in Wi-Fi/WiMAX integrated networks deployed for enterprise application, where WiMAX plays the main role in the backbone system, completing most parts of authentication and key exchange at the stage of initialization and handover procedure. Based on this method, Wi-Fi/WiMAX integrated network will be a potential choice for enterprise.
