Abstract

This paper proposes a novel Finite Queuing Adaptive Time-Threshold-based bandwidth allocation Scheme for Multimedia services (FQATTSM) in cellular networks. Because future data service will occupy a large portion of all services in next generation mobile networks, there is much significance in improving handoff data call dropping probabilities of Adaptive Time-Threshold-based bandwidth allocation Scheme for Multimedia services (ATTSM) further. The proposed scheme uses handoff queuing for data service according to the queuing discipline which is the least maximum handoff tolerance degradation interval first out and then, modifies priority definition and bandwidth allocation of ATTSM in order to guarantee QoS of voice service. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves performances of handoff data dropping probabilities at the cost of slightly increasing new call blocking probabilities and the prioritized handoff voice dropping probability that may tolerate uncritical while keeping high total bandwidth utilization compared with ATTSM.
