Abstract

Geographic Markup Language (GML) is an XML encoding for the encoding, transportation and storage of geographic information, and compact Geographic Markup Language (cGML) is a compact GML. As the particularity of mobile network, cGML becomes the encoding specification for mobile location data. But, as cGML still includes large quantity of coordinates, the efficiency of cGML transmission is low to the narrowband of wireless network and low performance of mobile terminal, which constrains the development of Location Based Service (LBS). Therefore, a strategy of compression and transmission on cGML spatial data has been proposed in this paper, and its application in LBS is described.
